By signing the documentation, the engineer acknowledges the design as an intellectual work and assumes responsibility for legal warranties related to authorship.

• Ensuring the architectural quality of the design.
• Protecting any architectural and natural heritage affected by the design.
• Ensuring that the construction products specified in the design are suitable for the intended purpose defined in the design program.

The designer is also responsible for selecting the discipline-specific designers, interior designers, and landscape architects involved in the project, as well as coordinating their work and ensuring the proper integration of their designs.

Furthermore, the designer must ensure that they maintain professional liability insurance that provides coverage for potential damages arising from their professional activities.

All above might vary from country to country. On the other hand we all experience the power of signature on hazardous area classifications, Ex certificates, Ex inspections, or even on exposion protection document.
